Volunteer and career Search and Rescue personnel are able to respond to numerous incidents in various terrains. In some cases, coordination between multiple agencies and standardized messaging can be vital. Knowing who is responding to an incident along with qualifications are important pieces of information as these teams are assembling and being deployed to an incident.
Emergency Management Agencies provide disaster mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery services to cities and counties they reside in. Emergency situations are regularly handled by response agencies like Police, Fire, or Public Works, but sometimes a disaster happens that is beyond the normal capability to respond. Emergency Management Agencies provide additional coordination of resources, information, operational goals and planning efforts to support the response to significant emergencies.
Serving a variety of industries that need to contact Emergency as well as Non-emergency Response Teams if an incident arises. Manufacturing, Mining, Utilities, Public Works, Industry, etc.
When census is high and staffing is inadequate there is a need to ‘call back’ members and/or request additional personnel. The issue then arises as to whom do you call back, and what criteria is used to determine who receives the call? When this situation occurs, both time and personnel resources are used to request additional personnel, which takes the already low resources away from patient care in order to determine who can be called in and make the calls until there is adequate staffing. Call backs generally happen on a weekly basis, and the average time it takes to find available personnel with the right qualifications can take anywhere from 15 minutes to over an hour. In many cases, personnel are called that would not be able to cover since they are on the next shift, out of town, etc. In other cases, union rules are not met as certain personnel were not called when they should have been, which can result in a grievance being filed. By already knowing the resource pool at all times, administrators are able to know who is available to receive a call, send the request out to any available members and receive the member’s response all within minutes. This significantly decreases time and resources spent, maximizing efficiency and minimizing the burden of everyone on the team.
